mi mixed# is 3 1/4 so i multiply the 4 by the 3 = 12 then i add 1 to 12 = 13 so the answer is
ReplyDelete13/4.
my fraction is 5/4 so 4*1=4 so the mixed# is
ReplyDelete1 4/4 = 2
2 1/2 to find the improper fraction I need to multipling and add 2*2+1=5 and they give to me 5/2
ReplyDelete13/6 to find the mixed number I need to divide 6 and 13 and they give to me 2 1/6
Hi, Gabriela. Nice to see you around. The procedure you used to get a mixed number is okay :). However, the procedure you used to convert an improper fraction to a mixed number is incorrect.
ReplyDeleteAnswer the following question:
4 goes into 5 one time, that's why you have a BIG 1, if you multiply 4x1, the result is 4, how many units are there missing to get to 5? (that should be your numerator)
Andrea thanks for participating, well done!
ReplyDelete3 4 3*5=15+4=19
ReplyDelete5 5
first i multiply the denominator times the hole number then i add it bythe numerator and it gives me an improper fraction.
7 3*2=6 3*3=9 first i multiply the denominator times 2 and 3 and 3*3 is more than 7 but 3*2 is less than 7 so i am only missing 1 becuse it gives me 6 and 6 is missing 1 to be 7 so 1 would be our numerator.

Manuela, nice to see you here!. I've got a question, what mixed number are you using?
ReplyDeletea) Mixed#: 1 2/10 Improper fraction: 12/10 Explanation: I x the denominator x the whole# and then + the numerator and that answer is my numerator and I keep the denominator.
ReplyDeleteb)Improper fraction: 8/6 Mixed#: 1 2/6
Explanation: I divide the denominator by the numerator the answer of the division is the whole#, the remainder is the numerator and the denominator is the same.
I choose the mixed number: 8 3*2 , I multiply 8 times 2 that is equal to 16 and 16+3+19 so the answer is 19*2
ReplyDeleteI choose this improper fraction 7*3 < so I divide 3 into 7 = 2 ,but have a remainder that is 1 so is equal to = 2 1*3
Juan Felipe stand 5B
9/3 I multiply 3x1=3 3x2=6 3x3=9
ReplyDeletehow many 3 are in 9 3 and the wold number is 3
how many t am missing to complete to 9 0
and the nominator is the same 3
the friction is 3 0/3
Juan and Silvia :) Well done!
ReplyDeleteJust be careful with the symbols you uses
* indicates multiplication
/ indicates division
and the way you express division
7/3 seven divided by 3
3/7 three divided by 7
It was nice to read your comments!
51/2 i multiply the hole number by the denominator and then the answer i add the numerator .the answer i put it like numerator and i transfer the denominator and put it in the new denominator
ReplyDeletemiss the other part i cant see the video what can i do???
olga fernanda varon5ºb
Hi Olga, nice to see you around!
ReplyDelete1) Please, provide an answer for your example
2) Check the link below the video to understand the second part of the activity or read Silvia's and Juan' comments to see if you can get the procedure
Good luck!
Andrés A., your comment should be written in English and you should provide examples :)
ReplyDeletemi mixed is 3 1/4 so i multiply the 4 by the 3 = 12 then i add 1 to 12 = 13 so the answer is
ReplyDelete13/4.
9/3 I multiply 3x1=3 3x2=6 3x3=9
how many 3 are in 9 3 and the wold number is 3
how many t am missing to complete to 9 0
and the nominator is the same 3
the friction is 3 0/3
Juan Andrés, well done!
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that if the remainder is 0, the answer will be a whole number
9/3 = 3
:)
Mix numbers= improper fractions
ReplyDeleteI need a mix number for example 2 4/7 so i need to multiplay 2 times 7=14+4=18 so the fraccion will be 18/7 but i need to simplify so the half of 18 is 9 so the answere will be 9/7.
Laura Polanco Devia 5B
Laura, Hi. When you simplify you should divide both the numerator and the denominator by the same number. So, are you sure 18/7 = 9/7?
ReplyDeleteYou are also missing an example about converting improper fractions to mixed numbers.
See you around!
mis I try but i cant because i just dont understand clearly!can you he`lp me tomorrow???thanks mis!
ReplyDeletevale rincon
Improper fractions = mix numbers
ReplyDeleteI need a fraction for example 6/2 so i divide 2 divided 6 = 3/2 so the answere is 3/2.
Mix numbers= improper fractions
i need a mix number for example 2 4/7 so i need to ultiplay 2 times 7 = 18 so the fraction is 18/9
Laura Polanco Devia 5B
A)I choose 3 3/5 = 18/5, I need to multiply 3x5 and + 3, so the answer will be 18/5.
ReplyDeleteB)I choose 14/10 = 1 4/10, I need to divide 14%10
"the denominator by the numerator" and the answer is the whole #.

ReplyDeletesorry i frgot the answer of the 1 point .here is the correction
51/2 i multiply the hole number by the denominator and then the answer i add the numerator .the answer i put it like numerator and i transfer the denominator and put it in the new denominator
(2x5)+ 1 11/2 A:the answer is 11/2
10+1
miss i cant see the video ,about what you tell about the comments i have a little daught but here is the precedure and my example :
i have 14/12 and the mixed number is 7 8/12 because fist i divide numerator by the denominator .the answer is the whole number, the remainder is the numerator and the denominator is the same that the other one.
good night miss
olga fernanda varon 5ºB
I choose the mixed number: 8 3*2 , I multiply 8 times 2 that is equal to 16 and 16+3+19 so the answer is 19*2
ReplyDeleteI choose this improper fraction 7*3 < so I divide 3 into 7 = 2 ,but have a remainder that is 1 so is equal to = 2 1*3
angela peña 5b
My number is 25/6 to change it to improper fraction to a mixed number we divide the denominator by the numerator so it would be 6x4=24 so the 4 is the whole number so the remainder is 1 and the denominator stays as it was, so the answer is 4 1/6.
ReplyDeleteMy number is 5 10/4 to change the mixed number to an improper fraction you need to multiply the denominator x the whole number and then you add it by the numerator and if you can simplify it you simplify it and if the numerator or the denominator can`t be simplify it you don`t simplify it so I am going to do it.
5x4=20+4=24=12/4=6/2=3/1.
A)4 2/7 first you multiply 7 times 4 = 28and then you add 28+2=30 and then you put the same denominator that is 7 an you put like this 30/7.
ReplyDeleteB)7/5 first you divede 7 diveded 5 , then you put the resolt as our hold number that in this case is d¿the 1 , next we put the rimainder as the numerator that in this case is 2, finaly the denominator is the same as the biggining that in this case is the 5 so the result is :
1 2/5 ATT: Tabata Tamayo
hi miss i am going to show you how can i change a improper fraction yo a mix number ....
ReplyDeleteokay firth my number is 6/4 and 1th i divide 4 into 6 it will be = 1 and it has also a remainder that it will be 2 and the answer will be ...... 1 2/4..........lourdes manrique 5b grade
I have a fraction 12/5,if I want to change it into an improper fraction, I need to divide 12 by 5. The answer is 2, the remainder is 2, so the mixed number is 2 2/5.
ReplyDeleteNow if I have a mixed number like 3 1/2, and I want to change it into an improper fraction, I need to multiply 2 X 3 that is 6 and then we add 1 and is 7. so the answet is 7/2.
Mix numbers:4 3/8,When I want to change a mix number to a improper,I multiply the whole number by the denominator and then i add the numerator. If i need to simplify i doed.
ReplyDeleteA:35/8
Improper numbers:8/5,When i want to change a improper number to a mix number,I see (cuantas veces me cabe)the denominator in the numerator.then if i have a remainder thats the denominator and the same number is the numerator.
A:1 3/5
My mixed fraction is 2 3/4 so i need to multyply 2x4 that is 8 and then i need to add 8+3 that is 11 and i also take the same denominatornso my improper fraction is 11/4.
ReplyDeleteMy inproper fraction is 10/3 so 3 is 3 times in 10 because 3x3 is 9 so to complete the 10 i need to add 1 to get ten so my mixed number is 3 1/3.
Thankyou miss for all.
Thanks to all of you who participated. I enjoyed reading your comments. See you next Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteA) I multiply 10 x 2 =20 then we add 20 + 6 so is 26 and the denominador stays the same so 2 6/10 = 26/10
ReplyDeleteB) I see how many times the denominator enter in the numerator so that is the whole number and the number that us missing for example 2 fits in 7 3 times so is missing 1 and that 1 is the numerator and the denominator is the same
Andres Arias 5B
miss:
ReplyDeletethis is the 2 point (corrections)
*i have 26/10 and the mixed number is 2 6/10.
when you have that number you need to see how much the denominator is in the numerator and the times that it be we put it in the whole number of the mixed number.the denominator is the same and the remainder of the division is the numeraor.
good afternoon miss
olga fernanda varon 5ºb
hi miss i am going to correct my work
ReplyDeleteokay i am going to change mix number to improper fractions .... in this case i am going to choos 3* 5/7 ... and then i do this 3x7+5= it is 26 but there its not the end always the denominator is the same and it is 26/7....
thanks
lourdes manrique 5b
My mixed number is 4 1/3 so I need to multiply 4 x 3 so it is 12 then I add 1 and it is 13/3
ReplyDeleteMy number is 26/12 so I will need to look for the cloasest multiple and it will be 2 and the remaining will be 2 so it will be 2 2/12.
Thanks miss alethia.
My mixed number is 2 1/2. for changing it to a improper fraction we need to 2x1 and +1 that will be 3/2.my improper fraction is 23/3.for changing it to amixed number we need to know how many times is 3 in 23 A=7 times R 2 and the mixed number is 7 2/3.
ReplyDeleteCarlos Trujillo 5B
My number is 5 10/4 to change the mixed number to an improper fraction you need to multiply the denominator x the whole number and then you add it by the numerator and if you can simplify it you simplify it and if the numerator or the denominator can`t be simplify it you don`t simplify it so I am going to do it.
ReplyDelete5x4=20+10=30=15/2.
Mixed Number: 5 2/8 I need to multiply de whole number with the denominator after I have the answer I add with the numerator ... After that the answer is the numerator and the denominator all ways going to be the same!
ReplyDeleteImproper: 9/4 I need to divide, 4 is 2 times in 9 because is going to be 8 - 9 less 8 is 1 so my mixed number is 2 1/4
i goin to convert iproper to mixed 24/14 i divide that give me 20/14this is the form
ReplyDeleteto convert to inproper fraction this is the fracrion 5 2/7 i multiply 5*7 that gives 35 and add 2 that give me 37 the fraction is 37/7
william de la hoz 5b
Mixed : 2 4/6 , I need to multiply the whole with the denominator then with the answer I apply with the numerator ... After that the answer is the numerator and the denominator is the same, So my answer is 16/6.
ReplyDeleteimproper: 10/6 I need to divide , so 6 is 1 time in 10 .. and the whole is 1 okay .. so 6 is 1 time it going to be 10 less 6 is 4 .. so the mixed is 1 4/6 .....
Mix numbers is 3 5/7 i need to multiply 3 times 7= 21 know i need to add 21+5=26 so my improper fraction is 26/7.
ReplyDeleteInproper fraction I need a fraction for example 6/2 so i divide 2 divided 6 = 3/2 so the answere is 3/2.

ReplyDeletemy number is 5 2/7 and i need to multiply 5 times 2 plus 7 equal 17 and the denominator always stay the same so, would be 17/7.
my number is 11/5 and i want a proper fraction so, i see how many times feet 5 in 11, 2 and the remainder you aded to the result so, 2 is the whole and 1 is the numeratos and the denominator always stay the same.
am gonna bring a video teaching a person to have majistral.
thanks
