Hi, kids. This e-tivity is about adding, multiplying, subtracting and diving fractions.
By the end, you'll be able to
  • explain how to add/subtract/multiply/divide fractions.
  • use examples to show your understanding of math concepts.

    1) I choose adding, 2) for example the fractions are 5/4 and 4/8 you need to search the gcf, that in this case is 8 then you multiply 5 x 2, 4x2, 4x1 and 8x1, then wen you gat the answer you add the numerator and the denominator needs to be the same, 1/2 + 1/4, 2:2,4 4:4, 2/4 +1/4= 3/4.

    You need to multiply the numerator times the other numerator and the same but with the denominators.

    example:
    2/4 X 6/8= 12/32= 6/16= 3/8

    Today I going to explain how to multiply fractions.
    Is only one step multiply both numerators and denominators. Example:
    2/5 x 6/7= 12/35

    1) this is addition
    1/2 + 1/2 = 2/2 = 1

    Explanation : the denominators are already the same. so, all we need to do is add the numerators.

    2) this is subtraction
    4/5 - 2/5 = 2/5

    Explanation : the denominators are already the same. so, all we need to do is subtract the numerators.

    3) this is multiplication
    3/2 x 2/3 = 6/6 = 1

    Explanation : multiply numerators with each other. multiply denominators with each other.

    4) this is division
    8/7 : 6/3 = 8/7 x 3/6 = 24/42 = 12/21 = 4/7

    Explanation : we have to reverse the position of the second fraction (which is 6/3), into 3/6. then, we proceed with multiplications.

    NOTE : do simplification when needed.

    If the denominators are diferent you need to find the same denominator for the fractions, by the number you multiply down to get the denominator you multiply up so then when the fractions are changed you add the numerator and you get the answer and you leave the same denominator and if the denominator is the same at the beging you add the numerators.

    First you need to find the same denominator for the fractions, by the number you multiply down to get the denominator you multiply up so then when the (two) fractions are changed you subtract the numerator and you leave the same denominator, and you get the answer.
    Example
    8/16 - 6/8 = 8/16 - 12/16 = 4/16

    I choose the division.
    so you need to multiply like with an x the nomitator with the denominator and then the denominetor with th nominator.
    and there is the answer
    Example:
    2/8 / 3/4 = 8/24

    1) i choose +, 2)example the fraction is 5/4 and the other 4/8 you need to take the GCF, and in this case is 8, before that you multiply 5 x 2, 4x2, 4x1 and 8x1, fimally when you have the answer you add the N (numerator) and the D(denominator.)The two needs to be the same , 1 / 2 + 1 / 4, 2 . 2,4 4 . 4, 2 / 4 + 1 / 4 = 3 / 4.

    4/5 + 1/2= 13/10 = 1 3/10
    first you need to find the LCF that is 10. the you need to multiply the nominators with the other denominator. the you add it all exe and you would have the anwer. if the nominator is bigger than the denominator you would need to simplify.

    2/4 + 3/6 = 12/12= 1
    Explanation: If the denominators are different you need to find the LCM of the denominators.
    Then you multiply by the number of times needed for geting the LCM up and down.Then you add the product of that multiplication.There you'll have the final answer but if possible simplify.

    I choose multiply fractions that is multiply the numerator by the numerator and denominator by denominator and that is the answer for example 5/6 * 1/2= 5*1= 5, 6*2= 12= 5/12

    I choose adding.
    for example the fraction is 5/8 plus 2/6.
    first you need to find the LCM between both of the denominators, then the number that you add down you need to added up, and then you just add the numeratoes and the denominators you lived like that.
    The fraction would be like that:
    5/8 plus 2/6 15/24 plus 8/24 23/24

    I Choose Multiplying.

    3/7 x 8/6 = 24/42 = 4/7.

    First You Multiply Top Times Top And Get The Answer, Then You Do The Same With The Bottom And It Gave Me 24/42 That's Right But We Should Reduce It To Lower Terms So It Can Be Easier, So You Divide The Number By 6 And It'll Give You The Answer

    3/4 4/6 = 18/16
    you need to multiply across and then you put it the number that is down you multiplied with the other number that is up.
